"As an IFP, wholly-owned subsidiary, RSI is delighted with the Nobel Prize in Chemistry awarded to Dr. Yves Chauvin "for the development of the metathesis method in organic synthesis" - on October, 5th, 2005 .
Dr. Chauvin is a former Engineer and IFP Research Director (1960-1965).
RSI and IFP have published a paper entitled "Information Technologies for Interoperability" in the Oil & Gas Science and Technology.
Abstract:
Information systems largely involve networking these days. The development of complex business applications is now focused on an assembly of components available on a local area network or on the net. These components must be localized and identified in terms of available services and communication protocol before any request. This article presents the most common technologies that allow heterogeneous and distributed software systems to collaborate. The first part of the article introduces the base concepts of components and middleware while the following sections describe the different up-to-date models of communication and interaction and their use in industrial applications. To finish, the last section shows how different models can themselves communicate.
RSI has presented a Paper entitled Enhancing Process Modelling Environments:
CAPE-OPEN Dynamic Unit Operations in the 7 th World Congress of Chemical engineering, in Glasgow, Scotland.
The Paper presents the progress made in the development and implementation of CAPE-OPEN (CO) standards for Dynamic Unit Operations. This will allow the integration of third-party dynamic unit operations into a compliant PME (Process Modelling Environment). This will offer a long awaited flexibility to dynamic modelling end-users.
During the Joint Industry-Funded R&D Projects in Exploration and Production (12-13, May), RSI will present its work in collaboration with IFP for the PLATINA project : The Solution for Engineering & Process Analysis From Near Well Bore to Export .
RSI participated to the Co-LaN Annual Meeting, in Como, Italy (17 - 18 February 2005). The presentation consisted of a Showcase and a Workshop both dedicated to illustrate the interoperability of INDISS™.
RSI participated to the ARTC Asset Maximisation Conference, Singapore.
(2 - 4 February 2005). The presentation was on Crude Switch Distillation Simulator Engineering Simulation and OTS.
IFP Training organised a training session (October, 2004) based on the RSI Depropaniser Simulator for the students of PPC (Petroleum and Petrochemical
College), University of Chulalongkorn.
RSI participated in the 2-day ERTC Computing conference in London (May, 2004).RSI gave a lecture on the Crude Switch Distillation simulator delivered in 2004 for TOTAL, France.
The talk focused on the thermodynamic modeling of crude oils and on the calculation methods applied to the various sections of the simulator.
