Dynamic Engineering Simulators
Process transients are necessary to check and validate process Operability & Controllability that is not possible with a Steady State Simulator. Therefore the use of a High Fidelity dynamic simulator is the only way to address those issues and plays an important role.
DES allows clients to explore engineering issues, like:
- Check Operability & Controllability
- Validate design choices
- Check main equipment specifications
- Design, test, improve and validate control strategy
- Anticipate and analyze operational issues
- Ensure comprehensive analysis of the integrated process including sea line and dynamic interaction with on and off shore facilities via a multiphase flow simulator link
The DES brings solutions at each step of the engineering project. A typical approach in the use of a DES could be:
- Design dynamic simulator
- Upload data from Steady State simulator
- Implement additional engineering data
- Tune dynamic simulator to the Heat and Material Balance
- Tune and test control loops
- Perform case studies
- Update with “As built” engineering data
- Update case studies
Case studies are specified to explore areas or process design uncertainty, validate control strategies and check operating procedures.
As engineering data availability progresses from design to construction, the case studies provide valuable information that is more and more accurate and issue focused.
